Congratulations on your decision to use Alfresco Content Management! Alfresco offers a complete product that competes head-on with big brand-name proprietary software products. Alfresco is the largest private Open Source software company.

While Alfresco is amazingly feature rich, there is a fairly steep learning curve if you want to customize or even configure Alfresco to something beyond what you get out of the box. You'll probably need some help getting started. And that is where we come in.

Our target client profile is a small company, less than 50 users, that wants to be able to use Alfresco productively for content management but are priced out of Alfresco's Enterprise model. Our goal is to help you succeed as a business and ultimately graduate to becoming an Alfresco Enterprise customer. We'll be sorry to see you go -- alhtough you don't necessarily have to go. We happily provide services to Enterprise customers too.

Cost is a big reason to consider JRabbit Data Solutions. Annual subscription pricing for the Enterprise version of Alfresco runs into the tens of thousands of dollars. Alfresco does offer at a lower subscription cost price point product, something they call Alfresco Team, but it is basically a non-customizable version of Alfresco Share -- you get support, but beyond basic configurations, you're not able to change much and still be able to receive support.

Another up-coming area is the Alfresco Cloud product. It's still in the works. Pricing isn't clear and initial versions of it will not be customizable, although it sounds like that is likely to change.

Alfresco Community is a great product, and for many small to medium sized companies, depending on your application, is sufficient. You should be aware though that Community and Enterprise aren't the same. Community stable releases are generally pretty good, but you probably should always wait a bit to hear the verdict from the community on the latest bleeding-edge release before moving ahead.

The Enterprise release also contains some nice adminstrative features that aren't available in the community release. And Alfresco also holds back some functions that enable smoother and easier scalability that you won't get with the Community release.
